The Lord Is My Shepherd

I’ve been slowly trying to read my entire Bible. I’ve never read through the entire Bible before, and I started reading it from the beginning over a year ago. Originally, my goal was to read through the whole Bible and as quickly as I could. However, as I read, I wanted to be able to study and take it all in, my goal to quickly read through it disappeared as I reread passages and dove deeper into each passage.

Numerous times in the past year, I’ve reread passages in the Bible & forgotten my goal of reading the entire Bible for studying it. Even so, I’ve been able to grow in my Bible reading.

Saturday morning while reading Psalm 23, I let some of the words I have heard my whole life, sink in … “The Lord is my Shepherd ….” … “He leads me….”. While these may seem like simple words, they have deep and valuable meaning.

Psalm 23 not only shows God’s character, but it also reveals that we are not alone and are not in control. God being in control rather than ourselves allows us relief from carrying the burden of doing things on our own & offers us the freedom to let go and let the Lord work and lead us. He leads us, knowing who we are & us knowing Him. John 10:22 – 29 says that we can hear the Lord – He knows those who believe in Him & follow Him, my Shepherd. Dependence on the Lord can be shown when we as Christians allow Him to lead. We can lean on the Lord, and let Him lead.

I ask myself …. “are there ways or areas of my life that I can relinquish control & give God back all control?”

I just wanted to share a little of what I read on Saturday morning. πŸ™‚
